LABORAL Kutxa Bilbao Surf Film Festival 2025 (LKBSFF) will be held next week, from March 13 to 16, in Getxo and Bilbao

Bilbao, March 5, 2025

This morning at a press conference in Bilbao, Carlota Jauregui, 5 times spanish longboard champion and jury of the tenth edition of the festival, and the filmmaker Jon Aspuru who will open the event with his latest work ‘Glory and Consequence’ have been responsible for putting a face to the tenth edition of the largest basque surf festival, full of content and news.

Thus, they unveiled the highlights of the more than 60 films presented this year. The bakiotarra highlighted the growing Basque creation and the good health that surfing also enjoys in the audiovisual field. Jauregui, for his part, praised the creation of female directors, on the rise in recent years, reaching a significant percentage also in the leading role in this year’s edition.

Much more than a film festival, the event is a multidisciplinary platform that also brings together photography, exhibitions, art, meetings and sports. Consolidated as an international benchmark for surf cinema and a space for the creation of industrial and economic synergies, it promotes inclusion, sustainability and access to culture and sport.

In this line, the organization announced that Getxo will once again be the chosen venue to kick off the new edition. On Thursday, March 13, prior to the opening gala in Muxikebarri, the auditorium will host a school morning: educational projections on surfing, sustainability and inclusion for schools in Getxo, with a talk by Sarah Almagro, world champion in adapted surfing.

Meanwhile, the BiscayTIK Foundation will host the IV. Meeting of the Audiovisual Industry and ICCs of Euskadi that includes professionals and producers of the highest level of the Basque cultural and creative scene. Topics such as the new associative fabric in the Basque Country, Artificial Intelligence or documentary production will be discussed.

On Friday, March 14, the festival moves once again to the Itsasmuseum in Bilbao, with new educational matinees and the first film sessions in the morning, which will continue throughout the weekend, along with the rest of the activities.

In the vicinity of the museum, the Surf Market, exhibitions linked to the 10-year history of the festival, a master class of roller freestyle with the well-known Borja Fernandez, participatory family workshops, skate championships, experiences in Virtual Reality by the hand of ‘Surfing360’ of Primeran in a special set of EITB, free concerts, contests and raffles, as well as a new artistic exhibition of surfboards inspired by legendary surf movies will be held again. … unmissable event for all kinds of public, as well as open and accessible activities for all ages, as detailed by Zubero Andrés, representative of the festival.
