Golden Era of Skateboarding

The vision of this DocuSeries is to bring awareness and energy to a period of skateboarding that has yet to be captured and chronicled in the sport’s history.

Stacy Peralta’s documentaries on Lord’s of Dogtown and the Bones Brigade have exceptionally chronicled the rise and progression of two important eras in skateboarding history.

However, a third story in between still needs to be told. It is the story of my generation of skaters, who respected and raised the bar of the Dogtown era in the 1970s and inspired a whole new generation of skaters like Tony Hawk and Christian Hosoi throughout the 1980s and 90s.

This DocuSeries will profile the first vertical Pro Bowl contest series: skateboarding from the Hester Series #1 in 1978, Hester Series #2 in 1979, and the Gold Cup Series in 1980.

It will include archival footage never seen before of history being made, updates on skaters, interviews, and event footage from the El Gato Classic Legends Weekend Events, seeing these legends gathering after 40 years and more.
