
The tenth edition of the LABORAL Kutxa Bilbao Surf Film Festival gets underway
Starting this morning with the IV. Meeting of the Audiovisual Industry and ICCs in BiscayTIK and the Opening Gala in Muxikebarri, both in Getxo. It will be followed by 3 days full of cinema, music and activities at Itsasmuseum Bilbao.

More than 60 films are presented. 8 of them Basque productions and 25% directed by women who represent 40% of the leading roles. A percentage that increases every year.
Much more than a film festival, the event is a multidisciplinary platform that also brings together photography, exhibitions, art, meetings and sports.
Consolidated as an international benchmark for surf cinema and a space for the creation of industrial and economic synergies, it promotes inclusion, sustainability and access to culture and sport, core values of the festival.
On Thursday, March 13, in Getxo
09:30-11:30 The Muxikebarri auditorium will host a school morning: educational screenings on surfing, sustainability and inclusion for schools in Getxo, with a talk by Sarah Almagro, world champion in adapted surfing.
9:30-13:30 The BiscayTIK Foundation will host the IV. Meeting of the Audiovisual Industry and ICCs of Euskadi that includes professionals and producers of the highest level of the Basque cultural and creative scene. Topics such as the new associative fabric in Euskadi, Artificial Intelligence or documentary production will be discussed and will be broadcast in streaming.
19:00-21:30 Grand Opening Gala, with the presence of sportsmen and important personalities of the Basque society. The first session of the Official Section 2025 will be screened at the Getxotarra auditorium with the premiere of the films Kameraqua (Paula Odriozola, Euskal Herria, 2024), Glory and Consequence (Jon Aspuru, Euskal Herria, 2025), Sensei (Igor Bellido, EH, 2025) and One Shot (Nicolas Pina, Spain, 2025).
From Friday, March 14 to Sunday, March 16, in Bilbao
The festival moves one more year to its main venue at the Itsasmuseum in Bilbao, with more educational matinees and film sessions starting in the morning, which will continue throughout the weekend, along with the rest of the activities and the photo, art and surfboard exhibitions available for those who come along.
In the vicinity of the museum, the Surf Market returns, the exhibitions of posters and boards of the 10th anniversary of the festival, roller freestyle masterclass with the expert Borja Fernandez, participatory family workshops, skate championships, experiences in Virtual Reality by ‘Surfing360’ of PRIMERAN in a special set of EITB, free concerts next to the bar of LA SALVE and Baserriko foodtruck, contests and raffles, as well as a new artistic exhibition of surfboards inspired by legendary surf movies. An unmissable event for all kinds of public, as well as open and accessible activities for all ages.
