Five years ago, Arthur Bourbon travelled to Liberia for the first time and co-directed the movie “Water Get No Enemy”. From the beginning, the goal was to use the impact of the film to support the Liberian surfing community by raising funds, gathering equipment, and sending surfboards to Liberia.
However, just as the first images went online and the logistics seemed almost impossible, a group of Swiss-German surfers, through their association ‘Provide The Slide’, were already prepared to ship thirty surfboards to Liberia. This marked the beginning of a collective effort to support surfing in Liberia and to embark on a new project: helping the surfers of Robertsport village build their own Surf Club.
Thanks to the involvement of the Universal Outreach Foundation, other NGOs, and the support of the international surfing community, the project was successfully funded and realized—the Robertsport Surf Club was born! ‘We the surfers’ documents the evolution of the surf community since this momentum began and the story behind it.
